About Ear Seeds
What are ear seeds? Ear seeds are tiny seeds placed on the outside of the ear to provide acupressure. They are safe for most people. On average, three to five points are used.
What is it useful for? Ear acupuncture points mirror those on the body so are useful for just about anything.
Does it hurt? No, but you may feel tenderness or warmth where the seeds are placed.
What do I need to know when I go home? After seeds are placed, you can intentionally stimulate them 3-5 times a day (for instance, waking, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bed time). Seeds will fall off within a few days. They can also be removed at home if needed.
How often should I get ear seeds? As needed. Talk with your provider.
Can it be combined with other modalities? Yes! Ear seeds can help to prolong or enhance the effects of acupuncture after treatment. They can also be done instead of ear needles during your acupuncture treatment for no added cost. Just let us know you’d prefer seeds instead of needles at the beginning of your treatment.
